Functionality 4/5

Maxthon has a large focus on syncing various devices. You can drag & drop images, send them to your phone contacts or an email address in several clicks. You’ll need a snipping tool for that. Syncing works well if you need to save your browsing history from your PC to mobile device.

The browser has strong security features that let you surf the Internet safely and privately. Your history is removable manually and automatically after you close the window. Maxthon will block the pop-ups, viruses, and spyware.

It’s easy to install this browser which has a decent performance. It can not boast of the quickest startup time, but it’s fast enough when it comes to click-through speed within a website. The anti-freeze option makes browsing as fast as possible, and the smart acceleration improves the loading speed of the sites you visit most often.

All in all, this browser is functional enough. However, it would be better if it had more features like voice interaction commands or open-source development.

Design 4/5

Maxthon looks just fine. Its interface is intuitive and highly customizable. You can easily choose another skin and change the browser's toolbar to your preferences.

Usability 4/5

Maxthon is an easy-to-use browser. It's based on Internet Explorer's engine. That’s why it will be familiar to those who are accustomed to Explorer's layout. You may customize it to be as involved or not complicated as you desire. The buttons are well labeled.

After you finish using Maxthon, it asks you, whether you’d like to save the session. It will save you in those cases when you’re interrupted while surfing the Internet because it’s possible to start right off where you ended.

You will be provided with support if needed. You'll find some of the help options in the browser bar. There’s a tip of the day, a comprehensive user guide, FAQs on the website, and a help database. If you have any issues, contact Maxthon by email.

Cross-platform use 4,5/5

You can install Maxthon on Windows, macOS, Linux. Plus, Maxthon Mobile is compatible with Android, iOS, and Windows Phone 8.

In-app purchases

Maxthon is completely free, and you don’t have to pay for using it. As it’s free, there aren’t any risks in checking it out.

Conclusion

You won’t find all the features which are available in other browsers, but it’s a perfect choice if you would like to refresh or enrich your browsing experience. Maxthon doesn't offer anything revolutionary if you want to get the best internet browser possible. It's a basic one that performs all its functions well, runs smoothly and is compatible with different types of mobile devices.

Should you use Maxthon as your primary browser? It is not bad, so you may at least give it a try. It does its job and offers many small convenience features. It is clean, quick, and functional, but it's not exceptional.
