Recuva Review. Best Free File Recovery Program
We all know how irksome losing our data can be, especially if recovery means paying the premium for a recovery software or contracting an expensive professional technician. Recuva is the perfect alternative for those looking for a free or inexpensive recovery program with enhanced capabilities.Read More
Installing and downloading the software is as easy as it gets. Recuva has an easy-to-use interface that lets you quickly access all its features, and the wizard is also seamlessly integrated to do all the detailed work. The software offers you various scan options such as Quick Scan or Deep Scan, the latter option taking longer but yielding better results. For heavy file formats such as .db and MP4 files, Quick Scan won’t work effectively. The deep scan option, while relatively effective, takes a substantial toll on your CPU. Therefore you might want to exit other applications especially if your PC isn’t too powerful.
The interface gives you checkboxes, both for the main files and their extensions, and you can choose which files to recover and which ones not to. Recuva, as with all other recovery programs, prefers that you save the recovered files in a separate folder from that which the recovery is ongoing.
The interface of Recuva is clean and quite easy on the eyes. You can easily make your way from installing the software to quickly recovering your files. Having the red, green and yellow categories to show which files are either unrecoverable, fully or partially recoverable respectively is a great way to make the software even much simpler to use. The arrangement of different panes, from the files to the left, string types on the right and the drives where files are located in the middle all make the software quite seamless. On-screen prompts also let you know what to do next in case you’re stuck.
Recuva is by far one of the easiest recovery software I’ve ever used. The recovery wizard does all the hard work behind the scenes once you have activated any of the options such as quick or deep scan. Recuva comes in either a downloadable or portable version, both of which are effective, the latter being quite small in size. While you may not recover all your files with Recuva, its ease-of-use and intuitiveness make this app one of the best recovery software overall.
Cross-platform Use 3.5/5
Recuva is only available for Windows (Windows 7, 8, 8.1, XP, Vista and Windows 10).
There are no in-app purchases for Recuva. However, you can buy a pro-version for $19.95, or the ultimate CCleaner version for $39.95.
Recuva may not be the ideal option for users looking for advanced recovery software, and those dealing with more complex file extensions. For average users or those looking to recover files from typical applications, however, Recuva offers all the essential features of a great recovery program, at the best prices. It may not be possible to do the most advanced or deeper scans compared to some alternative software, but it still does offer quick recovery and great features at affordable pricing.
Recuva is quite cheap and still the best choice for non-technical users, or those looking for simple recovery options.
